Jubilee Celebrations with Candles

In case you haven’t noticed, a couple of big events are taking place this year in the UK. The first of which, the Queens Diamond Jubilee kicks off this weekend. We British do enjoy a good party, and what better excuse to dust off the bunting and butter up the cucumber sandwiches than the 60th Anniversary of our Queen’s Coronation. You can’t move in the UK just now without seeing some form of patriotic rhetoric. Be it Union Jacks draped over the shoulder of athletes who will be competing in the Olympics or high tea sets adorned with British insignia, everyone and their aunty will be gearing up for a long weekend of celebration, pageantry and festivities. In our home of Glasgow there are street parties and parades planned and fingers crossed, the weather man has good news for us on his weekend broadcast! So, I can hear you saying, that is all lovely but what has this to do with candles. Well friends, as many of you know when hosting a party, get together or soiree, well placed candles with the perfect scent can be the catalyst in creating a serene atmosphere. So in this week’s blog I am going to give you the run down on what candles and scents are must haves when entertaining over the Jubilee celebrations. To start things off consider our ever popular coloured candles. Our pillar, jar or screw top candles are perfect for entertaining, and in the spirit of the Jubilee why not go for the red, white and blue colours to add a little nationalism and Union jack colours to your party. Do it yourself tip - Why not bundle up our red, white and blue rustic dinner candles as little gifts to your party guests? We have done this in our factory shop and they are selling like hot cakes!

Following that, and fingers crossed the weather is such that we can sit in our gardens, we suggest going for an outdoor candle. Be it a pillar candle standing proud in our ever popular storm lantern, or a statement piece to decorate your outdoor table we have a great selection of pieces that can suit. Have a look at our garden candles here and see if anything inspires your imagination.

Finally we have the scents. Now any home is even more welcoming to guests when they are greeted by a pleasant aroma when they walk into your home, and I am sure that you don’t want your husband’s bar-be-que smell to be the first thing that greets your guests when they walk in the front door! Choosing a scent for summer can be a tricky affair, summer is laced with such wonderful and inspiring scents. Be it mown grass, warm air, ice cream and sunshine you do not want to interrupt these, but enhance them. We suggest going for floral, light, breezy scents from our summer spa collection, such as coconut, frangipani and watermelon and gingerlily are great for this.

So there you have it folks! Enjoy your long weekend and celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee with style, fashion and great candles!

Kind Regards
